Metal building kits have developed from the iconic Quonset hut of the World War II era to multi design, multi use structures suitable for just about any housing or storage purpose. Lets take a look at what metal building kits can do.
Metal building kits are made from fire resistant materials that are strong enough to stand up to natural disaster and extreme weather. Do you live in an area prone to hurricanes, tornadoes or earthquakes? No problem! How about heavy wind, snow or rain? Metal building kits shed these conditions effortlessly. Who wouldnt want that type of structure protecting their farm animals or their small business?
There are several different designs of metal building kits. The S series boasts high sidewall clearance and a clear span free of posts or beams to provide optimal storage or working space. This design works well as an industrial or machine shop or as storage for farm machinery, recreational vehicles and boats. Truckers even use S series metal building kits to store their 18 wheelers! Building lengths are virtually unlimited. S series metal building kits are also frequently put to use as airport fueling stations and fire stations, thats how versatile they are.
Metal building kits in the P series, with their straight wall and arch design, are more conventional in appearance. These buildings function quite nicely as small shops, workshops, garages, even as a small cabin getaway. The skys the limit when it comes to uses for P series metal building kits. The A series design is similar to that of the P series, except for its 4 to 12 pitch roof, which provides superior protection in areas prone to high winds and snow.
Then, of course, there is the Q series of metal building kits that are based on the beloved Quonset hut. Originally intended for use as lightweight, portable battlefield troop and equipment storage, these metal building kits were quickly put into service as hospitals, latrines and dental clinics, as well. Returning servicemen liked Quonset huts so much that many of them purchased the surplus units for their personal housing. Even universities purchased surplus Quonset huts for overflow student housing.
Metal building kits are not limited to these four design series, however. They come large enough for a church congregation or a horse riding arena. Dairy farmers find metal building kits particularly useful for housing a herd of dairy cows. You arent going to find many structures better able to protect a dairy herd, and a farmers livelihood, from Mother Natures worst.
